Stafford Township, NJ – On March 27, 2025, at approximately 3:45 P.M., Stafford Township Police responded to TD Bank located at 571 East Bay Avenue for a report of fraud. Police Dispatch advised patrol officers of a female suspect who was attempting to cash a fraudulent check in the amount of $9,637.00. Upon their arrival, patrol officers located an individual matching the suspect’s description within the vicinity of the bank. The individual was detained for investigative purposes. The suspect was identified as Adriel Barham, a 23-year-old woman from Bay Shore, NY. Further investigation revealed that the aforementioned check was stolen, altered, and attempted to be fraudulently cashed through the modification of the recipient’s name. Detective Zac Halliday was the investigating officer.
Barham was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She faces the following charges:
- 3rd Degree Forgery (N.J.S.A 2c:21-1A(1)
- 3rd Degree Receiving Stolen Property (N.J.S.A 2C:20-7A)
- 3rd Degree Attempted Theft by Deception (N.J.S.A 2C:20-4)
Barham was released with a criminal complaint summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court. Officer Austin Rauch was the arresting officer, who was assisted by the Stafford Township Detective Bureau.
