Eluding Investigation Leads to Stolen Motorcycle

Stafford Township, NJ – On July 24th, 2024 at approximately 1:30 PM, Patrolman Theodore Caporrino was on patrol on East Bay Avenue when he witnessed a Kawasaki motorcycle with a fictitious license plate.  When he attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the driver fled the area at a high rate of speed.  Investigation led to the identification of the driver as 41-year-old Emmanuel Grau of Burroughs Terrace in Union, NJ.  An arrest warrant was issued on Grau for 2nd Degree Eluding (2C:29-2B).  On August 19th, Patrolman Caporrino ascertained information that Grau was hiding in a residence on Division Street in Manahawkin. Officers located and arrested Grau within the residence. During the investigation, the Kawasaki was located on the property without any license plate attached to it. It was determined that the motorcycle had been previously stolen from Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The motorcycle was impounded and Grau was transported to Stafford Police Headquarters where he was processed for the warrant and charged additionally for Theft of a Conveyance (2C:20-10.2A). The owner of the motorcycle was contacted to recover it. Grau was transported to Ocean County Jail.
