Stafford Twp., NJ – On July 16th, 2024, Detectives from the Stafford Township Police Department conducted an undercover operation investigating package thefts and successfully apprehended the suspect.
These thefts are part of an organized crime operation and have been occurring on a regular basis in Stafford Township, throughout the state, and beyond. Tracking numbers are fraudulently obtained and sold to criminals who then respond to the residence to steal the package. The packages typically contain numerous Apple I-Phones. It is not uncommon to have numerous different theft crews, unbeknownst to each other, lingering in the area waiting for the delivery notification of the same package and racing to be the first one there. All of the I-Phone package thefts in Stafford Township have been deliveries from Fedex.
At approximately 4:00 PM on July 16th, undercover officers observed a black Honda Accord with a Pennsylvania registration approach a residence in Ocean Acres. A male, later identified as 30 year-old Argeny Friasvasquez of Bronx, New York, exited the vehicle and attempted to steal a package of numerous I-Phones off of the porch that was just delivered by Fedex. Friasvasquez was taken into custody by detectives and transported to Stafford Township Police Headquarters where he was charged with Theft (2C:20-3) on a complaint summons and was subsequently released pending a court appearance in Ocean County Superior Court. Detectives Edward Kunder and Jacob Conner were the arresting officers. Friasvasquez’s vehicle was seized by police.
As a reminder, the Stafford Township Police Department does not release arrest photos of defendants. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
