Edison Man Charged With Check Theft and Forgery

Stafford Township, NJ – Stafford Township Detectives investigated a theft incident involving a stolen check from a vehicle that was being cleaned at the Showtime Auto Spa located on Route 9.  The investigation identified the suspect as Crisanto Hidalgo, a 22-year-old resident of Plainfield Avenue in Edison, NJ. The stolen check was made out to Hidalgo in the amount of $300.00. As a result of the investigation, Hidalgo was issued a complaint summons for Theft and Forgery, 2C:20-2B(3) and 2C:21-1A(3), and is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court.  Detective Jacob Conner is the charging officer.

In connection with this incident, Hidalgo has been terminated from his position at the car wash.

As a reminder, the Stafford Township Police Department does not release arrest photos of defendants. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
