Summer Camp

On Friday May 30, 2020 Governor Murphy eased restrictions and allowed for the opening of summer day camps as of July 6, 2020.

The Stafford Township Recreation Department is pleased to announce that we will be offering limited summer camp programs for the 2020 season.

We are excited at the thoughts of providing much needed recreation services to the children of Stafford Township in a way that meets or exceeds the guidelines set forth by the Governor as well as the CDC to comply with COVID-19-specific health and safety protocols. We will be strictly following all rules and regulations from the New Jersey COVID-19 Child Care and Youth Summer Camp Standards.

Temperature checks, health history questions, staff masks, frequent hand washing, hand sanitizing stations, social distancing, disinfecting of camp locations, deep cleaning and sanitization of facilities are just some of the procedures we will follow this season.

That said, summer camp is going to look a little different this year.

There will be no Trip Camp nor will there be any Pre-school Camp programs.

For this season, campers will have to have completed Kindergarten to attend and can be going into 7th grade on the other end of the age spectrum. Camps will only be open to Stafford Township residents this year.

We will offer abbreviated Day Camp programs both indoor and outdoor camps for 5 weeks from July 13, 2020 until August 13, 2020 at three different locations from the hours of 9 am until 12 Noon. No camps on Fridays.

Indoor camps will be offered Monday through Thursday. Outdoor camps will be offered Monday through Wednesday, with Thursday as a weather make up day. Campers will be placed in small groups of no more than 10, class style, and remain with that group and the same counselors for the entire week as a cohort. There will be no mixing of groups and you must commit to week-long blocks of camp, not daily, as in the past.

We will also offer a limited amount of Specialty Camps at various locations as well.

Our staff will be masked at all times. They will also have their temperatures taken daily and health surveys will be taken and logged each day. Campers temperatures will be taken every day as well as health survey questions will be asked of parents each day before admittance will be allowed. For campers, when attending outdoor camps, while masks will not be required, they will be allowed. For indoor camps, masks will not be required but recommended.

Please note, that any of these programs are subject to change should any new guidelines or restrictions be brought forth by the governor or the CDC.  Programs may also be changed, cancelled or modified at the discretion of Stafford Recreation at any time.

We are excited and confident about bringing nothing but the best to the children of Stafford Township for summer camp in a safe and healthy manner. This will be our 36th summer offering camp programs and while it may look a little different, we are certain that our offerings are just what children need.
